Hello, I have been quoted £26 per device per year for Intune licensing. Just about manageable for our 100 or so laptops, but for schools who have moved all devices to Intune for device management, with say 600 devices, are you really paying £15,600 a year JUST for Intune licensing? Maybe I am missing a trick here....

We pay per user license at around £6-£7 a year...think this also comes with free student allocation but we don't use this.

Is that for all users, or one of a Microsoft 'pay for staff and get students free'?

We have 1700 users - still quite a chunk...

You do get some slight different features on a Faculty license compared to a Student license.

But apart from that MS don’t really have a way to tell

I scheduled a video chat with a Microsoft onboarding team member around six months ago, however it ultimately turned out to be a sales call and was fruitless. They wanted to know how many were teachers, so one of them said during the call, "I'm just looking at your tenant now and can see how many members you have in the tenant." I won't lie; I was astonished because I hadn't provided them the information about my tenant; they must have discovered it by looking up my name and the company name.

If I get A3 for all staff and students, does this include the ability to do intune licencing for 50 iPads that are shared? Or is this charged on top?

We just use A3 licences, which include intune.

We pay about £49 per user per year. All students free of charge.

That also includes office etc.

Ditto this method. Pay for staff licensing and students are free.

The CHEST framework give us A3 users for about £45 per year, students free.

It's EES agreement (rather than OVS) which means you can get device based licencing for Office (useful for staff that don't use IT that much).

CHEST is fab as you don't have to have a minimum of 1000 users - we licence 740 ish, but you can licence less than 50!
