EduGeek at BETT 2007

Thanks to all who have already taken part in our survey (see right --> ). To give us a good indication of how many of our members we might see, it would be good for everybody to cast a vote.

The kind folk at Smoothwall covered the cost of various items on our shopping list ('net connection etc) as well as provided some other kit that will be subsequently donated to a school an EduGeek Members is helping out at (a charitable donation really) ...

 

A full breakdown will be available closer to the event, but I must stress the point that the target was the minimum target ... every extra pound we get goes to making the stand better.

 

I'm considering asking our members for one last push at the turn of the new year. Even if most of the regulars donate just £5 - £10 it would be of great help.

I just wish the invoices I've sent out arrive before xmas so I can get you guys food for the week.

the first two days are a problem for food whilst we set things up (monday and tuesday) ... after that I am sure Ric and I can scrounge meals out with various suppliers ... I know of a few that have already offered ... but we still need drinks and stuff during the day ...

You don't pay high prices on Mon/Tues, The prices goes up when the show starts, thats probably to compensate for the health and safety issues on setup.

and be good with your H&S as my friends should be down there as part of the H&S team and I WILL hear all about your H&S slip-ups, so remember gaffa tape and PAT testing is a must! and don't do like the germans did at the motorshow, leave cars on stands with the alarms activated, and a stand collapsed next to them, set them off and they didnt reset, it took 6 hours to get hold of the person who had keys for the car to shut them up!

Basically H&S is out the window until the show starts the isle carpet gets laid at 6pm on tuesday evening, before that there is rubbish everywhere that consists of cable, paint, wood, plastic, and to make walking great the backing off sticky plastic, that stuff makes you slide.

 

you can get a cuppa at about 60p and then goes up to about £1.30

 

There is a butty shop accross the road called franks (If I can remember rightly) which is pretty fair on prices. And theres also pizza express.

I had this shown to me by one of the teachers here ... "Didn't you do some stuff with this lot last year?" referring to the first conference we hosted.

 

I told her to pop along to the stand and say hi from me, but to make sure she takes some chocolate along ... :-D
