Microsoft is not the fastest at plugging vulnerabilities and the updates often break other areas. Why are we still using Windows, is it because it is an American company and not Chinese

What is the alternative to using Hikvision, all this is about America boosting it own economy in my humble opinion

Axis are one of the biggest CCTV players on the market. They are based in Sweden.

Yes to some degree it is definately political. However, securing any IOT device or device that communicates over the cloud should be mandatory.

There will always be people trying to get round the latest technology.

Agreed. But expand that to any device, cloud connected or not.

Ah that's interesting. Our LA had gone quiet and not got me to remove the current install and I hadn't pushed the issue by installing new cameras. Now you've posted this I'll get the HT on it.

Another knee-jerk reaction from our leaders that would have inevitably ended up with businesses, schools etc telling them where to go regardless of who controls the network. People making decisions without knowing facts never ends well! It would have ended up with several people here giving the LA a middle finger or 20; we have nearing 130 cameras plus supporting infrastructure! And all perfectly safe being properly secured and relevant access only. Worst case scenario would be a VLAN setup and a few separate switches to keep them off "their network" at least in the eyes of any scanning software.
