I have seen lots of post concerning Learning Gateway, Class Server etc. I have also been PM'd lots of time and have given advice as and where i can.

We currently use Sharepoint Portal, Learning Gateway, Class Server and eportal. We have been using this for around 7 months now with great success. Our Portals sue web parts to pull data from ePortal so parents can log in and see their own kids attendance info etc.

What i am trying to do is set up a sort of workshop/conference/info day at out school or the local CLC centre. I have already asked our main guy from our LEA to come and do an hour of so of demonstrations and scenarios and he has agreed. I have also asked on of our ICT staff to come and do an hour demo on Class Server. I will be there also to give any advice on Portal construction and ideas of content. For the afternoon I am trying to arrange one of the Forensic Software companies to come in and do a demo as well.

What i need to know is how many people would be interested. I would ideally like to do it at half term in May but I am open to requests. It would be based in the West Midlands and probably be 10-30ish till 3-00.

Can you reply if you would have an interest in attending.

Count me in - although I'm not sure about the half term thing. The head of ICT is also interested but I think we are both away that half term.

Where in West Mids? We are in Sutton Coldfield.

DUe to a number of reasons i am not going to be able to get this up and running for half term week.

The main reason is building work, our school is having a new build. They have cleared all the gound and got work units onsite as well as heavy machinery. But now the LEA have frozen the money, not just ot our build but most builds in the LEA. This has left us in a right mess with surrounding areas. A lot of work is going to be done during half term to sort this out and most of the school is going to be out of bounds while the surrounding areas are fenced off and made safe.

I have left it this long to see what is going to happen, but i have been advised by our H&S officer and our site manager that due to the problems i will not be allowed to have visitors onsite.

Sorry about this but hopefully in the next 2 months we may get sorted and the build will carry on. I will post in the future to see if there is any interest still.

There is a Conference being arranged by the DfES, Becta and the people who run the Learning Gateway in our LEA but at £150 a ticket i would not even consider mentioning it here..........!
