Default Google and Office 365 configurations - how secure are they?

Even using something like Teams for Education you still end up with the Teachers first names all over the channels when they comment or upload a document !

 

How much of an issue is that where you are though? Our kids see staff first names, but they don't use them until they've left school and are old enough to buy said staff member a pint.

 

The only (incredibly daft, or trying to win a bet) child I can remember attempting it picked our loudest and most performatively angry PE teacher ("alright Gary, keep your hair on") and I heard the results from the other end of the school field.

Not a huge issue, but why do it? - surely because we are using an education Tenancy as well as the Education version of Teams it shouldn't happen in the first place.

I think we have to accept that commercial customers of Microsoft are subsidising the education sector. We have to accept having features and applications rolled out to our tenants after enterprise customers and that the platforms are designed with them in mind.

 

In regard to enabling some features that are paid, then the cost of A3 or A5 or Enterprise & Mobility Licencing for a subset of staff shouldn't be out of reach of schools.
