Hi all,

Past week or so, it's been noticed that specifically Word Online through office.com, OneDrive or our SharePoint Online is taking around 15-20 seconds to save each time a change is made. I cannot find a single thread or post about this online.

When a change is made, the auto-save feature kicks in but doesn't save anything for ages. When I go to click edit in desktop mode or save as it hangs for a little while as if it's waiting for the auto-save to finish.

To be clear, this is on Word Online not the desktop app.

Cannae find a single setting for it either. Any help would be appreciated!

Cheers!

Do you manage your own firewall?

I would whitelist entries for all the M365 URLs so that it bypasses any checks for HTTPS decryption and certificate validation. This will prevent a delay that you're talking about. Mine was the blue envelope loading screen taking almost anywhere between 10-15 seconds to load the inbox. When I whitelisted the URLs the issue vanished.

YMMV

Try disabling MSQuic/Google Quic/HTTP3 , had a similar issue with OWA where it would hit an upgraded Microsoft server using the new protocol and time out until it hit a non upgraded one.

I think it's possibly a MS Edge problem... Just tried it in Google Chrome and the file saves instantly. Not helpful when Edge is the standard browser across the site!
