jthompson Posted May 15, 2023 Posted May 15, 2023 Free, ad-supported television. Literally. https://www.freetelly.com/ A free (as in £0) television set which includes a secondary screen below it that constantly displays advertisments. Adverts mights also be shown on the main screen when nothing in particular is being watched. Oh, and it has a built-in camera and microphone, because it has Zoom.
midweek Posted May 15, 2023 Posted May 15, 2023 From a very brief look, T&Cs say only available in the US.
JJonas Posted May 15, 2023 Posted May 15, 2023 USA only. Limited to 500000 devices. Interesting concept though.
robintech Posted May 15, 2023 Posted May 15, 2023 USA only. Limited to 500000 devices. Interesting concept though. Odd they use the British word
jthompson Posted May 15, 2023 Author Posted May 15, 2023 It amuses me that whenever 'widgets' are a touted feature of a device, the obligatory sports results and stocks widgets get rolled out. Surely anyone who cares about a sports result will either already know it directly, or want to actively avoid knowing it right away. And stocks I'm assuming are just a very widgetable data source that nobody actually has any interest in: least of all someone opting for a free television set.
LeMarchand Posted May 15, 2023 Posted May 15, 2023 Interesting concept. I'd get one and cover the second screen if it was really that obtrusive. 2
