chekmate1984 Posted May 6, 2023 Posted May 6, 2023 Hi all Does anyone use scan to folder here using papercut? We have ours setup but keeps getting access denied when trying to scan. Is there a user account we need to give permissions to or something? Not getting much luck with our support company!
nicholab Posted May 6, 2023 Posted May 6, 2023 Yes you will need a user account to access the share think it needs to be the Papercut use. Also something I would phone Papercut directly about. Have a look at this https://www.papercut.com/help/manuals/ng-mf/applicationserver/device-mf-scanning-prepare-implementation/#add-scan-destination-details-to-users-details
chekmate1984 Posted May 6, 2023 Author Posted May 6, 2023 Thanks, to add the service account i will have to apply permission in the staffhome directory. I am anticipating lot of errors or enumerated permission denied etc issue. Any how i can avoid that?
MatthewL Posted May 6, 2023 Posted May 6, 2023 I have found this works in 2 way, the service account running PaperCut needs to have permission to the share, the easiest way I did was to add it as local admin on the file server as we already have admins set on the folders. Secondly if a user is logged in to PaperCut on the MFD (works with Sharp) and has permissions to the folder that seems to work, not sure if its the right way but was something someone found at our place.
dapaulio Posted May 8, 2023 Posted May 8, 2023 Just check that your network isn’t blocking smb1. We moved away from scan to folder promoting scan to email. If you have paper cut mf I recommend configuring scan to cloud.
thimon Posted May 8, 2023 Posted May 8, 2023 I was going to say, setup scan to OneDrive or SharePoint online folder.
PaperCutterBrenda Posted May 8, 2023 Posted May 8, 2023 Hi there chekmate1984, PaperCutter Brenda here! Thought I'd chime in with some help (hopefully): scan to folder relies on us having read/write permissions to the folder location. Usually this means configuring PaperCut to use a domain account instead of the standard local system account. So this is likely just an incorrect setup, or a change to the account/credentials/folder permissions which affects authentication. Either way, it’s a pretty standard technical support issue and your reseller will be able to help you sort it out quickly! Shoot them an email or call and they should get you taken care of. 3
