DSAGEY Posted April 12, 2023 Posted April 12, 2023 Hi, We have had a custom system image created a little while ago (begining of the year, if not before) to remove build in apps such as My Dell etc. How do I go about deploying the system image without me having to manually boot it from the network? If I do this, this would therefore re-install all the software again?
Davit2005 Posted April 13, 2023 Posted April 13, 2023 (edited) Only if you have that software in the image deployed from the network. If you don't want it remove it from the image deployed from the network. Or replace the image deployed from the network with the custom Windows image. Edited April 13, 2023 by Davit2005
Bhavesh78 Posted May 3, 2023 Posted May 3, 2023 Hi Why not use CloneZilla software that can backup the image of your machine and then deploy it manually onto other machines. You will need external SSD to backup and restore the images . If that helps
DavR Posted May 3, 2023 Posted May 3, 2023 Most imaging solutions will require you do either a network boot, or boot into some kind of boot image, before applying a new system image. Applying a new system image is the same as reinstalling Windows from scratch. Anything installed on, or saved on, the pre-existing Windows installation will be wiped. If you've got the software automated to reinstall (eg via Group Policy or SCCM/InTune) then it will reinstall, otherwise it's a manual reinstall of that software. I am not aware of a way of taking a clean system image and using it to "upgrade" existing installations, although others may know of a way.
3s-gtech Posted May 3, 2023 Posted May 3, 2023 There are Powershell scripts that you can run that will remove certain apps for all users. That’s the only way I know of doing it post-image - it’s a good system though and you can push it via GP.
DSAGEY Posted May 9, 2023 Author Posted May 9, 2023 Thank you for all your assistance. I'm having issues with Lenovo V15-G2 devices where it keeps saying the HDD/SSD can not be found. I know I need to change it to AHCI but I can't locate it in the BIOS - I have also contacted Lenovo but they won't support changes being made to the pre-installed version.

You generally only need to change it if you aren’t using the right drivers Normally something like Intel raid/rapid drivers need to be loaded into the image for m2/nvme etc Steve
Squelch Posted May 10, 2023 Posted May 10, 2023 V15-G2 uses Intel RST. https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/lenovo-v-series-laptops/v15-g2-itl/downloads/driver-list/component?name=Storage
