CCC_Paul Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 Hi We have 7 rooms here which each host a suite of PC's. These are getting long in the tooth now and I am researching what to replace these with. Obviously we will be looking for the biggest 'bang per buck' but just wondered if anyone has gone through this recently and can offer any recommendations in terms of spec and price? We don't have any resource intensive software so, the spec just needs to be something that will last for the next 5 years or so. Thanks for your help.
Oaktech Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 We've been buying Del Optiplex 5060 8th gen i5, but whilst they work beautifully they have not been without their issues as they are tricky to build due to missing stock drivers.
MartinByard Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 I'd say get the best spec you can, and definitely leave space for an extra stick of RAM in the future if you can. We're just speccing out our summer refresh and as standard we're going for : HP EliteOne 840 G9 (non touch) with mid range i5 with vPRO 16Gb RAM 512Gb SSD

Im sure all these will do either i5-6th or i5-8th gen with 8gb or 16gb and 256Gb or 512Gb SSD refurb. We tend to stick with the HP 800 G3 or G4 SFF with a couple year warranty. 1
3s-gtech Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 Just built a suite with 60 Lenovo ThinkCentre Neo N50s. Really like them - they built easily (just had to update the graphics driver in MDT), they’re compact and quiet. Ours are 12th gen i3 but I’d suggest i5s with 16GB, or the AMD Ryzen equivalent. We got them through Welsh Government pricing framework so they were good value, but there are deals about. 1
