nwkeene Posted January 25, 2023 Posted January 25, 2023 Blocked on my student account, but ok on my Teacher account. We're in Oxfordshire in case there's a regional variation and we use on prem smoothwall(s) 1
jerryfudd Posted January 25, 2023 Posted January 25, 2023 (edited) Same here actually, was just coming to see if anyone else had noticed! CategoryBody piercing and Tattoos, News, Safe Content Filetypes, Web ContentReasonContent of type Body piercing and Tattoos ( Content filtering ) blocked.URLhttps://www.bbc.co.uk/news Edited January 25, 2023 by jerryfudd 1
Linfit Posted January 25, 2023 Posted January 25, 2023 There is news item on their main page about the Welsh government introducing stricter rules for tattoo parlours. Least we know the filtering works as intended ?! 1
jerryfudd Posted January 25, 2023 Posted January 25, 2023 It seems to block this thread every so often for me too now, haha.
fiza Posted January 25, 2023 Author Posted January 25, 2023 Ok, am I going crazy here or what? I raised a ticket with Smoothwall about this bbc news issue. Just had an email back from a "Triage Engineer" to say; I understand you have some questions regarding BBC News Blocked . When I tried to check the Real time Web Filter it is showing blocked , . Apparently because "Body Piercing and Tattoo" comes under Core Blocked Content he then said; I tried to edit the policy for the core blocked content and change from block to Do not Filter , I would request you to check it again and respond with your findings . Surely Core Blocked Content should always be blocked or am i misunderstanding?? I quickly changed Core Blocked Content back to Always Block!
tangotech Posted January 25, 2023 Posted January 25, 2023 Do Not Filter: This combines the function of the Allow action but also removes HTTPS Inspection from the content and any relevant Content Modifications. This is used where content is deemed safe to access entirely unfiltered. 1
mrstrong Posted January 25, 2023 Posted January 25, 2023 "Triage Engineer", thats a new one! I tried to edit the policy for the core blocked content and change from block to Do not Filter , I would request you to check it again and respond with your findings . no that sounds totally wrong to me too.
