Anyone here track fights?

 

I've recently set up an ADSB receiver using an old RaspberryPi.

It was very simple to setup and I now contribute flight data to Flightradar24 for flights aound my area.

 

Anyone else do this? It is great as you are contributing and in return you get a full subsciption too.

It's something I've always been meaning to do as I live under not only the flightpath into Warton but also a trans-Atlantic air corridor, and am facinated by it all.

Just a case of my getting the rest of my house sorted out in the meantime!

Sounds good.

 

I had a spare RaspberryPi and then got a receiver and aerial online for about £20.

Might upgrade the aerial to get better range at some point.

I don't contribute but I do pay for 360 Radar find it better than some of the free ones. One of the lads at work contributes and gets his free.

 

Phil the bloke who runs it has just bought out a new version so if you are mobile rather than having to let your long/lat each time using a GPS it does it automatically. I'm yet to set my own up but it is on my list.

Currently renovating the house so it’s been taken out for now but keen to get the aerial installed onto my chimney for 360 coverage and extended range.

 

Made my own 1090mhz Co-Co linear Ariel out of some spare copper coaxial and PVC pipe, a really quick win for increasing messages received and upping your range.

I did have a RaspberryPi setup feeding into FR24 before I moved house - really should get it all set up again, perhaps with a better antenna for better coverage.
