Anybody else being asked to "sign in" on Google.com home page

I think a recent chrome update has maybe caused this.

Even though i'm signed in, if i visit google.com it has a blue "sign in" button in the top left. If i click it to sign in, the page just refreshes as says the same thing.

if i click gmail from the home page it takes me to Gmail where im signed in.

Its only the google.com home page that's affected.

Its causing issues as our deployed apps aren't appearing in the "waffle" menu on the home page. i have to go to gmail.google.com to see the apps in the menu.

Any ideas?

No idea how to resolve but can confirm ours has been behaving like this for the last few weeks as well. Not too much of an issue for us as staff/students all know to open their email first but it is annoying.

We had this - to solve it we turned on Search and Assist in the admin console (Apps > Additional Google Services > Search and Assist) and the button went away and waffle went back to normal.

Just take care to review the settings for Google Assistant, etc. on that Search and Assistant page. You may not want Workspace data surfacing on a family's Nest Hub, for instance.

Yeah, I think you can turn off the voice search bit which is what it needs the consent for. Edited by russlp

Yes, I've seen this issue here too.

Also got the issue with dissapearing folders that are there but just not showing up until you search for them. Somethings broke that's for sure.

I've enabled the service for everybody, but disabled the features....... that fixes it for us
