Tesco upset by voucher auctions

The supermarket Tesco has asked auction website eBay to stop people selling its Computers for Schools vouchers - but eBay says the sales are quite legal.

The vouchers are issued to customers at a rate of one for each £10 of shopping.

 

Schools can redeem them for a wide range of equipment, though the value is so low it is not clear why people would pay money for them in an auction.

 

Some sellers on eBay claim to have many hundreds of vouchers they do not need as a result of their purchases.

 

"The sale of these coupons is permitted under UK law," eBay said - so they could be sold on its website.

 

 

Thought, Well, Thats one way of doing, At least you wouldn't have to count the bloody things as you would now how many you have bid for.

 

What the news doesn't tell you is that you need 32,000 of these things to get a PC.

 

Why?

 

Because RM machines are so expensive. 4 Years worth of vouchers at a big school (1200 Pupils) and what do you get?.... A celeron

I remember it took about 4 years to get an Acorn A7000+, was not worth the effort,

It all depends on how your spend them. Our school has over the years had many good things such as digital camera's camcorders, loads of software. Using them to buy a pc is not a good decision because the specifications they offer are not at all good value for money
