Morning all,

I've been battling with these macs for a while now, and I'm close to grabbing the closest hammer (preferably Thors)

The issue is basically that Sibelius has a sound library that runs of the SMB which all macs have access to and is located where children and adults (login automatically) have access to. The issue is that they refuse to load. I thought I had it but apparently not. I've tried adjusting the files that tell it where to point with no success.

Macs are Yosemite presently and there is quite a bit of push back to upgrade them as they won't Sibelius 7 apparently doesn't work on newer versions of OS.

Any help greatly appreciated!

We used to run them on a share, ran into speed issues with them loading etc (few years back)

How much space do you have on the Macs? can you install the sounds locally? Will be a lot faster and more reliable, we've done so for 4? years never had an issue with them.

Not enough i don't think, there are all refurb macs with little drives in them.

I found with less than 256GB SSDs that Sibelius Sounds (on top of Logic Loops) was just one step too far and the disks would fill up with user profiles.

If they want to stick with them, using Carbon Copy Cloner and putting in decent sized SSDs, then locally installing the Sounds, will be a good value upgrade.

Can I ask, does the Sibelius sound library load while using a local admin account over the SMB share? or a users account with admin credentials? Does the sound library load off an external drive (usb, thunderbolt, etc)?

Have you had a look at Console in utilities to see if there are any error logs that might help?

What I am thinking; there might be something that Sibelius is programmed to do that needs admin credentials when communicating with the sound library files. Alternatively the network drive method is slow and is taking forever to load the sound library.
