jubbi Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 Hi, I've got a school that were given a bunch of iPads through the DFE device program. Problem is, when I've asked the DFE to enroll them with the schools DEP ID, they've responded with the following: "Thank you for your email. The deadline has now passed to provide your organisation's information so our delivery partner may enrol your devices in Apple's Device Enrolment Programme (DEP). We recommend reading Apple's guidance to see your options for managing your iPads. Kind regards," Now I've been working with DEP since it launched and this is the first time I've ever been told this. I've had schools that we've been able to go back 2-3 years and get their older iPads enrolled by the reseller. Is this just the DFE/Tech Data being lazy? Does anyone know if there's an ownership change limit? I'm trying to get the purchase date now, but they cant be more than a month or two old. Cheers
Tefters Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 (edited) The problem is that the all the Covid tech was sourced through Techsource aka Computacenter who brought it from relevant channel partners. The DofE have finally ended the contract with Computacenter therefore they cannot get information from them or the channel partners. This is the same for lists of local admin credentials for Covid netbooks, even though the final list I grabbed from Techsource has so many wrong passwords for the administrator account that I will have to rebuild them from scratch if the Bios password works. The contract was supposed to only be a year but got entended to 2. I got easily 150+ unboxed netbooks and ones that I have opened to reset have the wrong creds so back in the box they go. Government needed to be seen offering a solution, schools just kept clicking "yup give me full allocation" and then half or more never got used properly or was never needed... It's ok though because boxes got ticked on agendas. Enjoy enrolling them through Apple Configurator 2 and a Mac [emoji106] Edited June 21, 2022 by Tefters
DGardiner Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 If you have a mac you can use configurator to manually insert these into DEP - its a fairly quick proccess. If you have any of the delivery details, just call computacenter and try and get yourself through to the DEP department and see what you can do - Ive done this in the past with other box shifters and never had an issue
Oaktech Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 Configurator is your option here... DFE never responded to our request for DEP IDs and we got bored waiting.

Cheers This is to be frank pathetic from the Dfe, all they need to do is pass on contact details for either XMA or Computacentre so you can request this
jubbi Posted June 23, 2022 Author Posted June 23, 2022 Cheers all, I'm going to call comutacentre directly. They only shipped a month ago, so yeah.
Mrpower Posted June 23, 2022 Posted June 23, 2022 I enrolled them using configurator 2, with no problem. When the DFE email regarding adding them to DEP / ASM, I replied, I had already successfully add them to ASM (Apple schools manager).
