We've reported this problem to Bromcom many times over the last few years to always be told the problem must be on our end and no one else is reporting issues. We've always been able to show our internet speed is more than sufficient and access other webpages etc. as normal when seeing problems.

Seems to be a common problem around the key change over times for us. Our broadband supply coping fine and it's not ever day, but I do keep logging it with Bromcom as it seems they are just a bit tight on server performance.

We are experience persistent issues with bromcom performance, slow page load speeds, failure to save registers etc. Is this a common problem or just us?

Hi

Please accept our apologies for any performance issues you have experienced using Bromcom recently.

Our Status page shows there were no Performance related issues on 06/05/22 when this article was created so it may have been a local disruption (https://status.bromcomcloud.com/incidents). If the issue persists, please Contact our Helpdesk so that we can help to identify the cause and ensure that our services are not causing/contributing to slow performance.

Kind regards,

Bromcom Support.

Big schools seem to be the worst with Bromcom saying things like "you're selecting too many students" when people are trying to make year group changes. It seems to struggle with scale.

My issue this morning was simply trying to load the login page. It was across the entire site.

Hi Stgoodyeara

We’re sorry that you experienced slowness this morning.

There was some slowness detected briefly this morning but as you point out, this was short lived and service was only affected for a few minutes for a handful of Users.

We didn’t find slowness on a scale that affected lots of users, if this was the case we would have communicated this to all affected Schools as we always do in such situations.

Please DM me if you would like me to escalate a specific Support case for you.

Hi Theblacksheep

Can you please send me a DM with some detail on this? We would like to see which processes you are running as some will have slight delays if carried out for masses of Students/data.

Best regards,

Bromcom Support

Progress reports for year groups is a big one. There are some tickets on the helpdesk that have not been replied to for 2 weeks about this.

I've not had any reports of schools I support using Bromcom.

Immediate things that come to mind -

- Which ISP/filtering?

- What external DNS provider are you using? I normally use Google DNS.

- What browser(s) are your users using?

- Disable SSL inspection for cloudmis.bromcom.com

- Create an exception so cloudmis.bromcom.com bypasses filtering

- Unfortunately Bromcom have blocked pings on cloudmis.bromcom.com so whether there's another URL you can ping (you may have to PM them).

- Separately another test you could try is over 4G, which of course bypasses your LAN altogether when you've identified the issue's there

- Optionally create a local DNS zone/record, to speed up lookups to Bromcom

- I'd also say there's a massive difference between slow down and being unable to resolve completely, which of course is a more serious problem

- I think caching issues can be ruled out, otherwise it'd never work correctly, but clearly it does after x amount of minutes

Apologies if you've already tried all or some of the above!

Hi Theblacksheep

These sound like Assessment Reports which can take longer for a lot of Students, depending on if/how they are filtered.

I am going to DM you so we can discuss the case number and I can escalate it for you.

Kind regards,

Bromcom Support
