Koldov Posted March 1, 2022 Author Posted March 1, 2022 OK, I'll start... First day of Spring and it's raining... Pancake Day and the OH has got everything ready including a massive jar of Nutella! St. David's Day and I'm not seeing Daffodils, Leeks or Dragons anywhere (just saying)...
tmoon-mint Posted March 1, 2022 Posted March 1, 2022 Lovely blue skies here, it is a little cold though! Any day that encourages you to gorge yourself on Nutella gets a thumbs up from me. 1
DeGrimmy Posted March 1, 2022 Posted March 1, 2022 I've got two cartons of pancake mix (because there's always at least one pancake's worth that goes tremendously wrong), lemon juice, maple syrup and Nutella all ready, and I'll be stopping off to grab some fresh fruit for the pancake feast in my flat later. Very ready for it! 1
Ditto Posted March 1, 2022 Posted March 1, 2022 Shrove Tuesday or Pancake Day..? Pancake day or St. David's day..? All very tricky questions - the first thought that Springs to mind for me... it's a bit of a toss-up which I'd pick 1
Norphy Posted March 1, 2022 Posted March 1, 2022 pancake mix I once saw a packet of ‘pancake mix’ in a supermarket that said ‘Just add eggs and milk’ on the side of it. I said out loud ‘Flour. You’re selling flour’. At least bread mix has yeast in it usually, that was just ridiculous 2

jmak Posted March 2, 2022 Posted March 2, 2022 I've been making pancakes for decades with 100% success using Delia Smith's recipe. OH made batter before I got home using a BBC good food recipe and I found it almost impossible to cook the pancakes. BBC required 10g less flour, 25ml extra milk. I made a second batch for dessert and order was restored [emoji28]

It worked out very well!
HarryMonkey Posted March 2, 2022 Posted March 2, 2022 The first day of Spring is March the 20th. The 1st is the first day of meteorological spring so that it fits in their nice little boxes.

Koldov Posted March 2, 2022 Author Posted March 2, 2022 If you put a date on it, it's still a 'box'... Just a bigger box for those in touch with 'Mother Earth' and her so called 'seasons'. In other news I managed 8 banana, nutella and squirty cream pancakes! I was also disappointed no Daffodils, Leeks or Dragons appeared on the EDUGEEK banner....

Pink_Panda Posted March 2, 2022 Posted March 2, 2022 I've been making pancakes for decades with 100% success using Delia Smith's recipe. It's Gary Rhodes in our house, normally have to make 1 1/2 of his recipe so everyone has enough. Pancakes with golden syrup, lemon and sugar, and Nutella (not at the same time) here. Seeing some daffodils around, but the ones in our garden haven't come up yet. No sightings of leeks or dragons. Rain and dreary yesterday
Norphy Posted March 7, 2022 Posted March 7, 2022 My mix is usually something along the lines of 75g flour, 150ml milk and 1 egg. If I'm feeling posh, a bit of melted butter. Multiply that up as needed. Make sure the pan is smoking hot before you start making the pancakes otherwise they'll stick. I always prefer to use butter or ghee than oil as well; seems to work better.
