DFe HP 250 G7 Laptop - Keyboard Replacements

Hi All,

 

Like many schools did - we have some of the DFe HP 250 G7 Laptop's, issued from the DFe during Covid lockdowns.

 

It now appears some of them now have broken keyboards since being issued and will need to look have keyboard replacements looked at.

 

First glance seems it's going to be a right pain. Has anyone else come across this yet? How difficult is the repair on this particular model? It doesn't look like it's going to be a cheap repair for parts either.

The keyboard is a right pain to replace on the g7. Basically you have to take all the components off the motherboard, then swap keyboard and put back on. Probably about 1hr

Not this particular model but at least it seems from the above post the keyboard is replaceable.

 

We have a fleet of HP250G6 and for a recent repair (hinges snapped off both lid and base) it appears that the upper section of the base where the keyboard is has to be replaced. But I noticed when I ordered the part, that it comes with keyboard and mousepad...

 

Strange I thought, but on closer inspection the keyboard is mounted on the top part with plastic lugs (melted to hold it on), the mousepad looks like a right pain to remove too. So basically if those parts fail you would have to purchase the whole top part of the base which (it appears is similar to yours), also holds all the motherboard and other components...

keyboard itself looks a right pain to replace , luckily none so far have broken!

Looking at that, it does appear to be the same as the HP250G6 then... Must be how HP makes laptops these days...?

 

I miss the old days of 1 or 2 screws and a clip off ribbon cable to pop the keyboard out and replace!

 

Slightly cheaper at HP Parts Store - but they have no stock, so not much help.
