I got my Years 10s to put together a PC on Specialist, one revealed that he was actually building a pc at home. He got a RTX3070 for MSRP . I have not asked what the source of finance was.

He sent pictures and even apologised on Google Classroom for poor cable management. hahaha

If its anything like PS5s and Xbox Series X then they use bots to buy them and resell them.

If only this was a chip shortage thing. It isn't helping, but we had this problem before the pandemic and chip shortage began. It's the cryptobros using bots to add them to the Ethereum (in particular) crypto farms, sadly.

Could be hopeful if it isn't that great at mining though, this guy thinks so.

 

Anyway at 0.50c a day, how does crypto mining even become profitable (don't do it myself so a genuine question)... Does it scale up well, if you have 10 or so in a machine (considering initial outlay for the machine + cards + electricity costs)?
