chazzy2501 Posted January 27, 2022 Posted January 27, 2022 I've been without a GPU for ages and was hoping to get one of these for retail £230....ha
siuko Posted January 27, 2022 Posted January 27, 2022 Haven't even found anywhere yet that has them on sale! Which is a surprise as I thought they were being released today
DalekSec Posted January 27, 2022 Posted January 27, 2022 A GPU... in stock... and at retail? You're having a laugh right?
Optimus_Primal Posted January 27, 2022 Posted January 27, 2022 I got my Years 10s to put together a PC on Specialist, one revealed that he was actually building a pc at home. He got a RTX3070 for MSRP . I have not asked what the source of finance was. He sent pictures and even apologised on Google Classroom for poor cable management. hahaha
andy_b Posted January 27, 2022 Posted January 27, 2022 Still surprises me that my nearly 6 year old GTX 1060 6Gb is still relevant..
supportman Posted January 31, 2022 Posted January 31, 2022 Looks like about on par with a 1070 WTF thats 6 years ago. Buying new Graphics card is a mad business haha
BOOT Posted February 5, 2022 Posted February 5, 2022 Turns out that beyond a few dozen units sent for review... 3050s aren't even expected to arrive until May.
siuko Posted February 5, 2022 Posted February 5, 2022 CCL Online has had some for sale at £399 Sadly no longer in stock
chazzy2501 Posted February 7, 2022 Author Posted February 7, 2022 dang, how are they all on ebay for £400! how are people snatching them up to scalp?
tmoon-mint Posted February 7, 2022 Posted February 7, 2022 dang, how are they all on ebay for £400! how are people snatching them up to scalp? If its anything like PS5s and Xbox Series X then they use bots to buy them and resell them.
paulkerton Posted February 7, 2022 Posted February 7, 2022 If only this was a chip shortage thing. It isn't helping, but we had this problem before the pandemic and chip shortage began. It's the cryptobros using bots to add them to the Ethereum (in particular) crypto farms, sadly.
siuko Posted February 7, 2022 Posted February 7, 2022 I gave up and instead bought a 1660 Super that was on offer (plenty for playing POE)
Koldov Posted February 7, 2022 Posted February 7, 2022 (edited) Could be hopeful if it isn't that great at mining though, this guy thinks so. Anyway at 0.50c a day, how does crypto mining even become profitable (don't do it myself so a genuine question)... Does it scale up well, if you have 10 or so in a machine (considering initial outlay for the machine + cards + electricity costs)? Edited February 7, 2022 by Koldov
BOOT Posted February 7, 2022 Posted February 7, 2022 Some stock arriving by air - not really worth paying that premium though.
BOOT Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 Rats. eBuyer had some MSI cards but took almost an hour wading through checkout to get 'out-of-stock'. Next time maybe.
siuko Posted February 8, 2022 Posted February 8, 2022 CCL Online still have stock of an MSI and Asus one
chazzy2501 Posted February 8, 2022 Author Posted February 8, 2022 CCL Online still have stock of an MSI and Asus one yes and only £90 more than a base one with little to gain Annoyingly the same cost as a current GTX 1660 Super so still better value...
chazzy2501 Posted February 12, 2022 Author Posted February 12, 2022 holy crap i got one: they're at scan at the moment... tempted to buy a second but I'll resist the urge to become part of the problem...
