3D Printing for noobs

Hi

 

We've not long had some x2 Creality Ender-3 Pro at work but I'm having some slight trouble with one of the printers;

1st printer set up prints about 98-99% Perfect (thought just now it's messing up a print I'm trying so I don't know whats happened there...)

2nd Printer originally prints most sides nicely but the rear is horrible but now good sizes are 'bad' but the rear is horrible, plus supports mess up entirely (see attached rar for pics of a benchy boat print)

3rd Printer prints perfectly (at least to my knwoledge).

 

so the 1st/3rd printers I'm fine with but the 2nd I just can't figure out what I have to do to print out as good as the others; I've re-aligned the print bed several times, I've adjust the x axis belt/wheel/tighter thats on the right hand side, adjusted the wheels on the x axis/extruder, checked settings and it's fine for the other printers but just not for this printer.

 

Any advice (or where to ask) would be great, atm my knowledge is slowly building from youtube inbetween practical lessons and spare time etc.

Have you tried Facebook? Most printers now have dedicated groups on Facebook and the members will know any quirks with the specific model. You could also take a look at some of the more popular youtube channels for 3d printing such as Chris Riley or Teaching Tech.

Take a look at Teaching Tech YouTube channel, there are various test prints/calibration guides on one of his videos, I'll try and locate it, here is one that may help

The bed doesnt look too level, the rim seems to be really thin on one side and thick on the other.

 

What firmware are you running? a benchy shouldnt require supports

 

The print also looks like you might need to tune your esteps or retraction settings.

 

if youre open to flashing firmware i have Jyers on my ender 3 v2 and it makes the leveling proccess alot simpler

Looking at the rim, it's really uneven. I'm not sure how the homing process on the ender is managed, but make sure you are levelling the bed with the nozzle over the levelling screws, and not the corners of the bed.

 

Run some test prints of squares to ensure an even thickness across the bed before moving on to more complex test prints.

Yes I'm a 3d print noob too but I've learned quite a lot over the last month!

 

Yes the ender printers are hit and miss when it comes to the physical quality - my ender 5 came with a warped bed and bent Z axis screws so not only is it hard to print on it squeals like a cat under a bus when the bed moves up and down. Support send me another lead screw from china but that was in a plastic bag in a big empty box and was bent on arrival too after it's long hard trip! Sending it back to amazon this weekend sadly.

 

I've since got 2 x QIDI printers and they are fantastic - 10x better build quality.

 

Yeh those benchy pics aint good.

 

What bed temperature are you using, what hot end temperature ar you printing at and what filament are you using? All three can make a big difference.

 

Also - benchies are designed to be printed without supports to test how good your printer is - disable supports too when you print the next one.
