supportman Posted September 22, 2022 Author Posted September 22, 2022 Updated numbers from Arbor posted in another thead. Over 2,000 schools last year, wow! If that feels like too little time given the start of term, then just pick option 3 and we can help you migrate at a time that suits you. Over 2,000 schools switched to Arbor last year, we’re consistently voted industry favourite by primary, secondary and special schools, with more MATs and schools using our MIS than any other cloud-based provider.
TechMonkey Posted September 22, 2022 Posted September 22, 2022 I think we should all raise a glass to the cloud MIS teams. 2000 schools to Arbor and 330+ for Bromcom, and I imagine similar to the others, are a massive onboarding and ramp up of resources and I haven't seen any major performance issues being reported. I bet it has been a pretty fraught time for them.
BlueScreen Posted September 22, 2022 Posted September 22, 2022 A question for those who have replaced SIMS, what are they using to replace FMS?
Rob_D Posted September 22, 2022 Posted September 22, 2022 A question for those who have replaced SIMS, what are they using to replace FMS? We moved to Bromcom and use Bromcom finance module. Actually moving was a massive faff as very little could be "imported" across, but now it's up and running finance team seem happy enough with it.

I bet it has been a pretty fraught time for them. [bROMCOM] Bromcom Performance - Page 2 (edugeek.net) This thread seems to point out that Bromcom has had a few growing pains with the recent influx of users. We're hoping to get the ball rolling fairly soon - met with all the big names and so far Arbor is my preferred choice. A question for those who have replaced SIMS, what are they using to replace FMS? We unfortunately need to keep FMS running for awhile as the Business Manager is a bit reluctant to move from that yet. Our choice is limited by what the LA dictates with our current SIMS support provider recommending that we move to a platform called Access Education Finance. Anybody have any experience with this? sefton Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 No shocks in the latest Bringmoredata, Sims losing hand over fist and Arbor becoming the major challenger. https://bringmoredata.blogspot.com/2022/12/mis-market-moves-winter-2022-what-did.html?m=1 1
Ditto Posted December 23, 2022 Posted December 23, 2022 That first graph - wow, but not a surprise! Great intro from @bringmoredata.

Cat_Jam148 Posted March 1, 2023 Posted March 1, 2023 (edited) It's been a lot of work but over the half term we migrated to Arbor! Ta ta SIMS, not going to miss you one bit. We're also moving away from FMS in April, so I can finally look into sunsetting the server. For anyone contemplating switching, do it. The difference of running a modern MIS is truly night and day. TIOAOA Posted March 1, 2023 Posted March 1, 2023 @riker148 Can I ask what you are replacing FMS with, this is currently the stumbling block for our move away. In fact can anyone suggest FMS alternatives please
localzuk Posted March 1, 2023 Posted March 1, 2023 @riker148 Can I ask what you are replacing FMS with, this is currently the stumbling block for our move away. In fact can anyone suggest FMS alternatives please PSF, Bromcom Finance, Civica Finance, Access Finance. There's quite a few these days. We use PSF here. It works but has its foibles, like any system. 1
howartp Posted March 1, 2023 Posted March 1, 2023 We're with Civica Finance (formerly Resource32000) 1

In fact can anyone suggest FMS alternatives please We're moving to Access Finance who were recommended by our LA. Haven't had much involvement as our Business Manager is handling that side of things. I have had to move to an alternative to Equipment Manager though as Access has no such feature. Ended up going with Microsoft Lists and then building a Power App which allows me to add, remove and update items from my work mobile - works great. Edited March 1, 2023 by Cat_Jam148 1

sefton Posted May 9, 2023 Posted May 9, 2023 Latest update from Bringmoredata. Sims still bleeding schools even during what is normally a quiet period. Arbor putting a bit of distance between themselves and the rest of their competitors. https://bringmoredata.blogspot.com/ 2
supportman Posted May 9, 2023 Author Posted May 9, 2023 (edited) In Summary SIMS lost 242 schools 236 schools moved to Arbor (+12 Secondaries) 43 schools moved to Bromcom (+10 Secondaries) Edited May 9, 2023 by supportman
RLR Posted May 9, 2023 Posted May 9, 2023 In Summary SIMS lost 242 schools 236 schools moved to Arbor 43 schools moved to Bromcom I'd imagine SIMs have probably lost more schools as these stats don't include independant schools that have left.
