If they are going to have to learn next gen there is no benefit to blindly staying with SIMS so may start to consider others.

That's pretty much where we're at. We're with SIMS at present (and re-upped last year so are in contract until April 2025) but 99% of our staff never touch it, as all day-to-day and in-class operation is in ClassCharts. Timetabling, admissions, exams and some HR functions are in SIMS, that's it. So for us there hasn't been the drive to move to a more feature-rich MIS, but if those staff are going to have to learn a new product anyway, we might as well open up the field and look at other MIS systems. A change of MIS would probably allow us to stop using a third party room booking system and maybe ditch ParentMail, so there would be a bit of a saving there too.

Don't blame people for sticking with SIMs, can be a daunting task to change if you heavily rely on it like we did. We employ several staff to work on the MIS 5 days a week. We use most of the modules and getting staff to change is a task..

Still.. we jumped ship... but maybe because I was leading it... I did all the hard work and spent time with each person and went through SLT etc. Took quite a while and did the comparisons.

Not sure I would want to do it again if we had to leave.. but if the MAT we join don't use Bromcom, we just have to change and I don't have to do anything else.
