Google Drive - Web links / shortcuts to URLs

I just want to make sure i'm not missing something here on Google Drive.

 

Is there a way of having shortcuts to URLs like you can on a windows system so they are clickable and take the user to the webpage?

 

For example, we have a shared drive for staff members and have a range of Forms that we would like to share with staff. What i'd like to do is have the "get link" URL as a shortcut to the webpage in Google Drive. If we "share" the form, those that have access are editors - this is not what we want.

 

Instead it seems that if save the URL as shortcut on a windows system and upload the shortcut to Google Drive, a .url file is saved to Google Drive, the browser prompts the user to download the shortcut which is pretty pointless unless the "gLinks" extension is installed on the device.

 

I'm surprised Google haven't thought of this or have a way of this being possible!

I can imagine that that's not going to be possible. I guess you could present all of the Forms URLs in a Google Sites page, and then add a shortcut to the site to the relevent folder in Google Drive (right-click on the original Sites files and select Add a shortcut to Drive in order to place a shortcut to it where you want).

When in a Google Form, you have to click on the Share button, then copy the URL that is offered to you there. That is the front end link and not the backend one.

I think the question was whether those front-end links could be filed as items in Google Drive, so that non-collaborators could still see a bunch of forms in a folder that they could open up to submit responses to. I don't believe they can be.

Perhaps I am way off point, if you open the Google form and then click the eye icon, you can share that pages URL with everyone, or copy / paste the URL anywhere, and it will not be in edit mode.
