Ours is setup the same as @kennysarmy

I can't see any other places where there might be email settings other than

Devices>Scan Action>Scan Action Details

The tick I think is sending from a 'Custom Email' rather than the users. As Papercut can't authenticate for that user. So you tell is to use a 'Custom Email' then make sure it's got the username and password in Options>Notifications>SMTP Server Options

 

Host: smtp.office365.com - Port 587

Encryption: TLS

Username: Custom email used

Password: Password for above email

I'm not sure it is. That page says MS are aiming for a Oct 2022 milestone so it hasn't come into effect yet. It also says only Print to Email would be affected for Office 365 users.

It mentions Gmail being affected - so does that mean M365 is OK?

It looks as though ours is disabled. So I could turn it back on, but then this will be disabled again in the future so need to find a long term solution really.

Turn it back on - PaperCut will have come up with a solution before you need to worry about it again.

I should have been clearer, Papercut was setup correctly but individual copier settings were stopping it from working.

Hi Rob! There are actually two open requests for OAuth support of Email to Print – with O365 and Google (the O365 one is being actively worked on as we type!). Unless you really don’t want to use basic auth (which is a valid stance to take), you can contact MS to have basic auth re-enabled on your tenant so you can continue using E2P with PaperCut.

"If you are using the Email to Print feature, at this time you will need to continue to use basic auth with MS and Google. We are looking at making changes in future releases which will allow customers to use Email to Print without needing to rely on basic auth.

Note that due to COVID-19 there were delays in these plans. Microsoft published a September 2021 update announcing a new timeline for deprecating basic auth aiming for an October 2022 milestone (but with early 2022 testing happening from the Microsoft side). This link also includes an FAQ section from Microsoft which is worth reviewing for customers impacted by this.

 

Note that due to COVID-19 there were delays in these plans and Google has announced that this will be delayed until further notice.

@PaperCutbrenda Thanks for the update, currently got everything working with basic auth, but is there an eta on the "fix"?

 

(For others looking at this, you can turn on the basic auth block, and use conditional access to allow from your server ip. Better security than open to the world.)

 

The comments on the page you linked to mention q3 is that last year or this?

 

Do you know if current licences will work or will this need an update?

I would use a smtp relay if you are on a static ip.

Thats for O365.

 

If you have an isp that provides an internal mail relay it is of course easier to use that and then set up a connector in O365 for the isp relay.
