Issues deploying Adobe CC via MDT

Hi,

 

I'm in the process of setting up our Adobe CC software, after recently acquiring user-based licencing.

 

Via the Adobe Admin Portal, I have managed to setup a sync with our Azure AD (we are using Microsoft A3, so benefit from Azure Premium P1, Group-based assignment etc) and also compiled a software package of the (subset of) apps that we want to deploy to the our computers.

 

This creates both an .EXE and a .MSI file. I am aware of the need to use .EXE if deploying Adobe XD / Reader etc, but during initial testing neither of these are included within the deployment package.

 

I have attempted to add the .EXE as an application within MDT, and deploy it during the TS process - but it fails, and similar again when I attempt to use the .MSI method too. I suspect it is related to 'elevated permissions', or in this case the lack of. Even though it is running within the context of the local administrator account during deployment. Perhaps I need to disable UAC during deployment?

 

At the end of the MDT TS Deployment, if I open a command prompt and run the same .EXE (or .MSI) command from the shared deployment location it installs OK.

 

We have PDQ, and I know I could possibly use that as an alternative, but would be much more slicker and preferred to deploy as part of a single MDT TS deployment.

 

Any hints / suggestions?

CC21 does deploy with MDT without turning off UAC - that was using MSI. Same if I use a GPO.

 

I looked up the error codes in the system logs for failed deployments of a package that I'd built, and it was rejecting it due to system requirements not being met - but you'd see the same when manually installing. Do you get any fault codes in the logs?

It appears, for the MSI version of the deployment anyway, that there was a typo in the application path... Just test deploying now.

 

In respect of Adobe CC, (apologies still learning as only got access on Friday) if for example, my deployment package contains 7 apps, and that is used to deploy to our own devices. From a personal use perspective, can staff and students log in from home and have full access to the 20-odd applications? And they can install them accordingly? Or only the specific apps I have added their user account / group into?

 

Actually unsure about end-user rights, as K-12 mentioned that students can use on school devices, but staff can use on school and a personal device... bit bamboozled. Where within Adobe Admin Portal are accounts defined as staff or students?

 

Any other hints / tips / gotchas to look out for in relation to deploying and using Adobe CC on school devices?
