TwistedHelixis Posted September 14, 2021 Posted September 14, 2021 So a while back we ordered some DFE windows laptops which have finally arrived, lol. We ticked the option for non managed but they have arrived managed. I just tried to re install windows 10, but can't seem to as even doing that is locked down. Is it possible to re install windows? Should we send them back?
Jcx500 Posted September 14, 2021 Posted September 14, 2021 I remember there being a portal where you could access local admin / bios passwords. Have they gave you that ? 1
mavhc Posted September 14, 2021 Posted September 14, 2021 If they're hp there's a website/python script that'll override the bios password 1

We ordered two batches and one set of laptops had the incorrect Bios password in the portal and contacting the DfE was a pain. But Edugeek was very helpful 1
TwistedHelixis Posted September 14, 2021 Author Posted September 14, 2021 Now have access to the portal with passwords, thanks.
George5745 Posted September 14, 2021 Posted September 14, 2021 Also https://bios-pw.org/ is good for getting BIOS passwords. We used it for several DfE laptops.
Jawloms Posted November 5, 2021 Posted November 5, 2021 This is the one we use Department For Education - Department for Education (service-now.com) Now getting a message here saying the service is closed, and then being redirected to a page where I can't get my BIOS passwords. Anyone got a clue please? Thank you Stuart
RLR Posted November 5, 2021 Posted November 5, 2021 (edited) Also https://bios-pw.org/ is good for getting BIOS passwords. We used it for several DfE laptops. What does it mean when it says enter code? Think I've figured it out. Seems to want serial number. Edited November 5, 2021 by RLR

Jawloms Posted November 10, 2021 Posted November 10, 2021 Just received an email from the DfE out of the blue! It links to here; https://get-help-with-tech.education.gov.uk/assets To get all your devices details. Seems to work for me! Good luck!
Alis_Klar Posted July 24, 2024 Posted July 24, 2024 What does it mean when it says enter code? Think I've figured it out. Seems to want serial number. Its the code that appears on screen when the bios password has been locked out after 3 attempts.
