Lenovo Thinkpad 2nd Gen projector issues

So we recently bought 20 Lenovo ThinkPad 2nd gen's Seen here https://www.lenovo.com/us/en/p/laptops/thinkpad/thinkpade/thinkpad-e15-(amd)/22tpe15e5a2The issue we are having is that when using a projector (Epson Power lite 83+) we randomly a blew screen on the projector that says no signal for 3 seconds then the pictures come back. This happens about every 30-40 secs. We are using something called Rapid Run that goes from the projector to a wall plate then back to the Rapid Run VGA cable. We then have VGA to HDMI adapters.This just started after getting the new laptops. We have tried to change the refresh rate with no luck to fix it. We are using 60HZ. There is a lot of settings in the AMD Radeon software but I'm not familiar with them.

 

Resolution is 1366x768 for the projector I was going to try to connect the laptop directly into one of the projectors to see if it continues to do it. I guess that would narrow it down. Has anyone had any similar issues?

I’d be pretty confident that it’s your cabling - going from a modern machine through a run of adapters and legacy cabling can be a bit hit and miss. We do the same with gen 1s, but we use USB-C docks to connect so the signal is very strong from source. We’ve found that some DisplayPort to HDMI and HDMI to VGA cables haven’t played along with them though.

We had similar, again with Epson projectors and I think either Lenovo or Toshiba laptops.

 

We ended up using powered VGA to cat5 extenders with the shortest cat5 cable.

 

It was a messy solution but did work. I’ve now moved the extenders into the ceiling void to stop people unplugging the cables and then saying “it’s not working again”.

We had an issue with infocus projectors doing a similar thing (around a dozen classrooms, different laptops). Our viewsonic projectors did not exhibit the same effect. We ran a new 10m VGA cable and it worked fine. I suspect the original cable was either too long, in a duct with power cables etc or something else. I was lucky enough to be able to cable tie and run a new cable though.
