There will be changes. Along the lines of what had to be made to lord of the rings to get it into movie form.

It's just too big to visit everywhere as often as they do in the books.

However, Rafe Judkins who is showrunner is also a massive fan of the series. They also employ Jordan's widow and Brandon Sanderson who finished the books after Jordan's death as sounding boards to ensure they're getting it right.

Budget-wise it's looking to be similar to Game of Thrones at it's peak. So it'll certainly look the part!

I've actually starting reading this series after its been on my to do list for years. Read the "prequel" book and liked it, the "first" book I sort of lost interest a bit towards the end (probably just me) really getting into the second book and almost finished it. Want to make sure I read far enough that I can watch this without spoiling any of the books :)

Wondering how long it will be before the mainly positive comments on YT are buried beneath the outrage of Man-Babies/Incels complaining about it being too woke and proof that Hollywood is brainwashing culture* 'cos wimmin can't be strong willed and physically adept and especially can't be equal to (let alone more powerful) than men.

*They never let things like dates stand in the way of their outrage.

So far at least the comments remain positive. There's a few people saying they're underwhelmed by it, but that's about it.

Give it time though and I'm sure a few of them will crop up.

It's on the main Prime Video page, however. So I'm sure they'll have moderators removing that kind of talk.

They're suppressing Free Speech!!! ;)

Imagine not being able to spout your hate speech in the comments section of somebody else's media!

The horror!

Poor little Incels. :D

Anyway. Thread Drift. Here's a link to that magnificent trailer again!

Looking forward to it!!!

Might have to pay some money to actually watch it though - so it better be good!

Wait until it's all out/you've seen the reactions and do a free Prime trial and binge it.

I think my mrs has a condition were she has to buy something from Amazon at least three times a week so we got prime for the free postage.

The Prime TV actually is not bad though, there are a few hidden gems. Not as great as Netflix, maybe, but still not bad. If you have Alexa and like music you get quite a bit of music access as part of prime as well. That admittedly is a bit of a mixed blessing in our house as Alexa can understand my 4 year old daughter so we spend at least 6 hours a day listening to the Frozen 2 sound track.

Back on topic this is looking pretty good, casting looks pretty great as well, could easily recognise the characters just from a still image.

As we draw nearer the release date there's been a flurry of new content culminating with the full trailer last night.

Here we go:

Shadowspawn

Logain

Behind the scenes

Moiraine's Quest

Full Trailer

It's looking gorgeous and you can tell there's a lot of love gone into it.

There's alos a whole interactive section to the prime video page for the series.

Character bios, plus a map and timeline that look like they'll get more detail added as the series progresses.

Barney never returned after the covid shutdown. There's all manner of theories about why this was the case.

He deleted all his social media and has essentially vanished since.

It could be to do with the vaccine, but that wasn't a thing when they got shut down, so who knows?

Donal Finn is replacing him and this was new back in september of last year.

It's easy to see where they'd got to with filming before the shutdown as the rewrites they had to make to write him out for the rest of the series are pretty obvious and the finale suffers as a result of his absence.

They'll pull it back together in season two and should have things running pretty smoothly by the end of the series I reckon.

I seem to have accidentally become a Prime member - only found out a few days ago

Probably due to panic buying Mrs mikeprice's Christmas present - although it can be difficult to avoid!

Anyway - decided that if I have it I can use it to watch WoT

Didn;t expect it to match the books - because that would be impossible - and I wasn;t surprised!

I did quite like it - until the second to last episode where it seemed to try and get all emotion based and couldn't hack it

But it was OK

I did feel they assumed that you would 'get' some of the details that they didn;t explain - but if you read the books it was obvious

Looking forward to Season 2 - but I'm not going to suggest Mrs mikeprice watches it - he standards are far higher than mine (AKA I'll watch any old ****)

Discounting the pretty pointless Perrin > Egwene < Rand thing they did, I think episode 7 was by far the strongest of the series, certianly it's my favourite.

The open, with Tigraine Mantear showing just how awesome the Aiel are going to be was gorgeous.! Min was perfect, and the work they did to flesh out Lan was great.

The Dragon reveal (no name incase there's a couple of people who haven't read/watched) was also well done and tied things together.

My main gripe for the series (finale and it's covid-enforced/Matt leaving-enforced changes aside) was Lan's lack of badassery! He's the greatest swordsman in pretty much all of fantasy literature and they only had him fight in the first episode. For shame! I want more!

The Aiel do look like they are going to be all I would want

and Min was done well

And we do need more of Lan fighting - although I reckon Sparhawk could have him!!

We shall see what happens - some very good bits!
