Hi All,

The spell check has stopped working for one teacher in O365. I appreciate O365 doesn’t have any built in spell check and that the browsers carry out spell checking, but it has stopped working for her? We use Edge and Chrome and if I log in with the admin account spell checking works on the computer that it doesn’t work for the teacher?? I have checked the browser settings and the windows 10 spell check settings. It’s weird as spell checking works for me on the same computer as the teacher. She tested while logged in with the admin account on the same computer and spell checking doesn’t work for her??

Any ideas welcome!

Thanks

same here mate, no reason for it

basically ms support said turn off spell check and then back on within o365

spell check is enable on pcs as normal its deffo a o365 issue

open a ticket and you will get the same response as me.

one user said it has come back now without doing anything

it even happened at home on personal machine for that user so not a domin issue or gpoetc

no not yet just going to try a profile delete, but it may be because of a windows update creating the profile again might fix it

I tried deleting the users profile, but it made no difference sadly. I am in a difficult position now as the school is closed for the summer holidays and I won’t see the user until September!

its madness and dont believe it to be an issue with our image as it does not affect everyone

im stuck at what to try next

removing windows updates one by one to see if it is linked or update to the latest buildof win 10 to see if that helps

personal computers (owned by the teacher not supplied by the school)

not filtering as same thing happens on a home connection

it is not all of our staff thats the weird thing and follows them onto another pc in the school

Is this only happening in Chrome? We have a user where this happens only in Chrome. Works fine in Edge, but they would prefer to use Chrome.

From what I understand, Chrome uses a built in spellcheck feature where as Edge uses the system spellcheck. At the minute we are suspecting it is a filtering issue for us as the user says it works from home....

It weirdly happens in Edge or Chrome. No other users have reported the same issue. Which doesn’t mean that no one else has been affected! Reset browsers, deleted local profile. Not sure what else to do...

Sorry to hear that you are suffering as well! I am sick of all of the peculiar “issues” that I have had to deal with since O365 and Windows 10 appeared!!!! Bring back 7 and Office 2010!! ;)

totally agree , it all just worked

windows 10 and o365 will be the death of me im sure

Have you had any progress on this please? I have another member of staff that the spell check has stopped worked for all of a sudden. I have tried the usual, deleted profile, reset Edge and Chrome. Checked if spell check in Windows 10 is turned off... I don’t know what else I can try as if it were a filtering issue all of the teachers would be affected....

If anyone could offer any suggestions that would be very welcome as this is driving me nuts!!

Had a similar issue a while back and if i recall correctly it was something silly like a language setting.

I'll dig through my emails and see if i can find anything.

Edit: had a look through email and our old helpdesk and can't find anything sorry

Thanks Danthecreator. The proofing language is set to English (United Kingdom). Everything under corrections and refinements is enabled.I have tried clicking on reset to default, but that leaves all of the Microsoft editor settings as enabled.
