vdao Posted June 23, 2021 Posted June 23, 2021 Hi, I am attempting to push apps onto my managed iPads using Meraki that I have linked with ASM and Meraki. When I attempt to push the apps nothing happens. There are a few errors messages on the event logs of the devices:

Install application response received - name: Classroom, error: The MDM request is invalid., status: Error

Install application response received - name: Meraki Systems Manager, error: The MDM request is invalid., status: Error

Install app 'Meraki Systems Manager' Error: The MDM request is invalid. tmoon-mint Posted June 23, 2021 Posted June 23, 2021 Are you using device or user assignment? Do you have enough licences to cover the devices you're trying to install the apps on?
vdao Posted June 23, 2021 Author Posted June 23, 2021 I am using device management. Yes I have enough licenses purchased on the ASM as well as Meraki apps. I am unsure what method works so I tried both
Ertech Posted June 23, 2021 Posted June 23, 2021 Are you running the latest IOS version? - some Apps require certain IOS version.
vdao Posted June 23, 2021 Author Posted June 23, 2021 i am also struggling to push the latest IOS. I have attempted to push the update by going on each individual device and doing it through there, but no luck. Any advice?
DavR Posted June 23, 2021 Posted June 23, 2021 I assume you've got the device licensing from ASM / Apple VPP coming through OK? In my Meraki I have Systems Manager | Manage | VPP and I can see all the enterprise licensing for my apps. Even if they are free apps you still need to "buy" enterprise licensing at £0.00 per license to get that into your license pool for deployment. From there you can then deploy apps via Systems Manager | Manage | Apps, being sure to choose VPP Device Assignment as your purchase method. It normally defaults to 'Do not use VPP' which requires the device to be signed in to App Store (which it shouldn't be).
vdao Posted June 23, 2021 Author Posted June 23, 2021 Do you mean having an updated certificate? I have tested it, it says its valid. Yes I can see all my enterprise licensing for my apps on the VPP tab. In the apps tab, I am trying to push the apps to the devices, but nothing happens

DavR Posted June 23, 2021 Posted June 23, 2021 Are you choosing "VPP Device Assignment" when pushing the apps? I presume that the iPad and iOS version meets the minimum spec for that app? If you have restrictions set on devices via profiles, you could try making a minor change and seeing if that comes through. It would prove the device is talking to Meraki properly at least.
vdao Posted June 23, 2021 Author Posted June 23, 2021 Yes I am selected "VPP Device Assignment" when pushing the apps on its settings. Yes changing the restrictions work, I have tried to restrict the use of the Camera app and it worked perfectly fine
atcoates Posted June 23, 2021 Posted June 23, 2021 (edited) Does this help for comparison. The first is from the VPP section in Meraki, Second is the App section. Edited June 23, 2021 by atcoates
tmoon-mint Posted June 23, 2021 Posted June 23, 2021 Possibly a silly question but has your Apps and Books (VPP) token expired? This is different from your push certificate.
atcoates Posted June 23, 2021 Posted June 23, 2021 As @tmoon-mint says you can check all the certificates are in date and working in Organisation>MDM.
