[ipad] Meraki MDM fails to push Ios Update

We have a number of DfE ipads all set up with Meraki.

 

I can push apps etc, but it seems when I try to update iOS (they are 14.2 currently) they just ignore the instruction.

 

They have been left on charge, turned off, restarted etc but no OS update. Have even tryed a remote wipe and they stick at 14.2.

 

Is there a trick to this one?!

 

With the summer approching would like to get them all up to date.

If they don't have enough space to download and install the update then it will stop it from happening so that might be worth checking, they need space to download and install seperately. If the iOS update its 1.1gb I almost always make sure they have at least double that space free.

I have also noticed this and it has been like it for quite a while...

 

I always select them all and go Command > Install available iOS updates (acknowledge the fact they need to be 10.3+, supervised etc.) then click OK on the message 'You have selected 30 client(s). OS updates will be applied to any checked iOS and macOS devices enrolled through DEP. Are you sure?' in the vain hope that one day it will actually do it...

 

Interestingly it may not actually be possible for the iPad to complete the process autonomously...

But even so, when I go around and check them most of them still need to 'download the update'...

Had the same problem recently.

Meraki will not carry out an IOS or IPADOS update.

When you look at the Activity Log after selecting the update, it will say Pending, then drop through to Success but it at no time updates the IOS.

I was stuck on 10.3.3 and need to update to 15.0.2 at least and it failed every time.

Workaround was to get the physical ipads and connect them to Apple Configurator>Update>Select 'Latest System Only'>Update.

I'm trying to contect Meraki to find out if they have moved on this issue or not.
