I'll buy some proper pans later but this fits my dinner plate just right.

guessing it was the only container suitable to cook it in the oven was the saucepan instead of a baking tin

Toad in the hole is one of my absolute favourites. One which fills the entire dinner plate sounds just about perfect!

Good thing about Yorkshires and toad in the hole is you can use just about anything as long as it is oven proof!
