Keep Duplicate Display Setting

Hi all,

 

Have users who connect their laptops to touchscreens and have duplicate display set. Is there a way of keeping duplicate display enabled, as users report that quite often they have to keep resetting the display to duplicate display ?

We run this at Startup

 

C:\Windows\System32\DisplaySwitch.exe /clone

 

and have this enabled

 

 

Not sure if it's working, but assume so!

Are your users running PowerPoint by any chance? It may be that a default setting in PowerPoint is automatically switching their displays to extended desktop whenever a presentation is run.

PowerPoint > File > Options > Advanced > "Automatically extend display when presenting on a laptop or tablet". Have that unticked to avoid being switched from duplicate to extend.

IIRC there's a Group Policy setting for that option, too.

Thanks for that - that's handy. A problem here is usually resolved by unplugging the HDMI > VGA adapter, re-seating it after 5 secs and then running that cmd (or Windows key + P). I wish there was a cmd line to save the hdmi adapter having to be unplugged!

May not have the desired effect, but Ctrl+Shift+Win+B will restart the video driver - worth a go!

Got 1 today to try - unfortunately no success As soon as I unplug the USB HDMI / VGA adapter & re-attach it works perfectly. Was hoping this would work to save users poking around with cables
