We used to use them all the time, but when I last tried to get something from them I rang the school number several times to be put on hold for about 40 minutes (thank god for speaker phone!)

Like Richard says we used to use them all the time until they changed the account managers like their socks! We now use a Dell reseller and get better prices than direct! Perhaps we are all doing this and they are calling in the money owed to make their end of quarter figures look good?

Dell rapped for £60 delivery charge on £200 laptop | Channel Register The ASA said that, error or not, the advert appeared to impose charges amounting to a significant proportion of the cost of the computer on buyers, and that buyers appeared to have no choice but to pay the charges. £60 delivery on a £199 laptop

Hmm, has there maybe been some kind of small business / schools sales push thingy decided on at Dell? We now have a "dedicated account manager" to deal with. Theoretically, this makes things simpler, but I've just spent a good half-hour re-explaining the new machines and server we require for our new multimedia suite to yet another Dell representative, then got back a quote for a server machine with a non-virtualised OS and a tape drive... so 1998! -- David Hicks 1
