Purchasing Google Workspaces Enterprise for Education Licenses

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Has anyone bought Enterprise for Education licenses recently?

I'm just in the process of getting a quote from a reseller and they are basically wanting us to transfer our entire Google domain to their control with full admin access. This seems completely unnecessary just to buy some licenses!

Thanks,

Yep, via forum sponsors @VeryPC.

John Levis is their licensing guy - and he won't want you to give him the keys to the kingdom.

I don't believe you need to transfer that control to be able to buy licenses, or have them applied.

You certainly don't with Management Licenses, so I don't see how it'd be different with Enterprise ones. I'll check with some reseller people I know though!

Thanks, I've just sent them an email via their website, is there a quicker method via here? I see VeryPC_Nicole has liked the reply.

Hey, we've got your enquiry and Mr Levis himself will be in touch very soon!

Thanks Fiza,

That's what they were asking for, seems crazy to me and totally unnecessary, transfer control of my domain from Google to a reseller with admin privileges so they can allocate Google licenses to my Google product... what?!

Just checked through my emails and AFAICT the only things that I was asked to do were to provide a purchase order number and:

  • The domain to add them to
  • End user contact details
  • Technical contact on-domain
  • Technical contact off-domain

Just checked and the only admin accounts are school employees.

All machines connected to domain (after I realised that I had to do the first sign in to each one differently!) and working as expected.

I have just checked our list of SuperAdmins and there are no new ones in there so it didnt add a SuperAdmin through that process.

I don't think they need to create an account but by adding the reseller token they have remote access to your domain, it seems you can turn this off manually afterwards in the settings, but not clear if this prevents them maintaining the licenses in the future.
