Disease Posted December 2, 2020 Posted December 2, 2020 I was wondering how others remote manage their networks, we currently use an RDS Gateway which for me has access to remote desktop app but I was wondering if there was a better (paid for or not) way to remote administer all my servers and network. We have been lucky so far in that my team has not had to self isolate but if it happens I would like to be assured that I could carry out the majority of functions remotely. Cheers
dhicks Posted December 2, 2020 Posted December 2, 2020 I was wondering how others remote manage their networks For remote access, we have a stand-alone server, separate from any Windows domain, running Guacamole for web-based access via Remote Desktop. The same server runs a Windows VM to RDP into, so I can open a browser tab and connect to a Windows desktop from where I can RDP / SSH / etc to any other machine on the network. 2
cw222 Posted December 2, 2020 Posted December 2, 2020 A tool like Devolutions Remote Desktop Manager might be useful in your situation, as it wouldn't be much you need to change
jthompson Posted December 2, 2020 Posted December 2, 2020 RDS Gateway(s) here, from where we run our usual tools for RDP, SSH, RSAT and WAC.
jthompson Posted December 2, 2020 Posted December 2, 2020 A tool like Devolutions Remote Desktop Manager might be useful in your situation, as it wouldn't be much you need to change I've not come across this one before. It looks awesome. I use mRemoteNG a lot, and Devolutions looks like the same kind of thing but with a tonne of other capabilities.
highsky Posted December 2, 2020 Posted December 2, 2020 Do you have a firewall? That usually comes with build in VPN solutions, like Open VPN. With Rdcman or whatever solution you use.
TwistedHelixis Posted December 2, 2020 Posted December 2, 2020 I really like Pulseway, although I only use a fraction of what it can do. I get alerts if server goes offline, emails after each backup, run a few scripts, install OS updates on the servers but it does loads more. https://www.pulseway.com/
the_dude Posted December 2, 2020 Posted December 2, 2020 used to run rds gateway but figured it was open to exploit. VPN now
rogerdnixon Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 We use Pulseway across our Trust. Keeps you one step ahead of problems and is very reliable.
Sylv3r Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 We've used this here for about 5 or 6 years. https://www.connectwise.com/software/control
