[voip] Running 3CX at a MAT level

For those of you running 3CX at a MAT level, how do you have it structured?

 

I'm torn between:

 

2x offsite instances (primary and failover) that everything connects to. Possibly with a local failover box for extension <> extension calls on larger sites if the fibre connection goes down.

 

Onsite systems at both secondary schools that are aware of each other that primaries connect into that and if one secondary school system is unavailable it tries the other.

Personally I'd probably let 3cx host my instance, I would imagine a single instance would be reliable enough - SBC at each site. Edited October 7, 2020 by SpaceInvader83

Although we don't use 3CX at work we use a hosted system which is a BroadSoft based system we have little to do with it, if the net goes down then users have mobile phones if its urgent. If you can get a system hosted I'd go for it, one less thing to worry about.

Are you on an EMBC connection? If so, how's the voice quality?

Hadn't spotted that. It has just launched though and it looks like they're still trying to work out Year 2 costs.

I'm not a school but much of network relies on KCom plus a mix of what users have at home and I don't find too many issues although I don't use it day in day out like some but our Service Desks guys don't complain and there on it all day.

 

There are times when it does drop and there have been some KCom issues recently I'm told but nothing what I would call major. Currently in the process of adding more staff onto it and removing the handsets that are in the office now that the majority are remote working and everyone now pretty much had a laptop too.
