Projectors and bulbs

I know this is budget permitting but I've a failing bulb in a 7 year old projector so would you :-

 

Replace the bulb for £100

Replace the projector for £300

I'd replace the projector.

Bulbs last longer on newer models, they're brighter and more efficient.

It'd be even better if you went with an LED model.

I'd lean towards projector as something that old is likely to be on the way out.

I've just made this mistake, I replaced bulbs in 2 projectors that are 7+ years old (I was waiting for the bulbs to fail) and it made no change. They're dim and look bad. The old projectors were 2200 lumen's new budget projectors are XGA 3600 lumens and the difference is amazing.

after wasting £120 on bulbs

 

Edit: also factor in running a new HDMI cable (because why not) and maybe a new bracket or bracket placement.

Yes, that's my viewpoint too, I've always tended to treat Projectors as consumables rather than an asset
