After opening the thread “Golf Discussion” and being disappointed to find it wasn’t about the hot hatch I thought I would start this thread.

Who here has a VW Golf? Do you guys do any mods?

I have a 2020 Golf R Final Edition. I intend to get a dash cam and tints. The rest will be stock. Just a personal preference.

I am thinking about plugging it into the computer to enable a few features. One is the speed sign recognition.

This is my third Golf. One day I quite fancy a GTI as well. Personally think they look better than the R.

Reply away with anything VW Golf related.

As you're in Oz, you'll surely be aware of Mighty Car Mods, based in Sydney. They have a Golf R, and have had a lot of work done to it - and the parts and businesses they used should be relevant to you over there. Theirs is a very capable machine, but I think they tend to prefer slightly more 90s/classic/kei car stuff for playing with!

I would have loved a Golf but ended up with a Passat estate as I needed extra space for two dogs and other bits when going on camping holidays. Prior to getting a second dog I missed out on a golf as the one I was looking at got snapped up before I could get to it so I ended up with a Ford Focus. I'm sure one day I'll get myself a Golf though!

I do need to replace the head unit in my Passat at some point as it's the pre android auto model which is a pain and it has this awfully annoying fault where the sound doesn't work at all until you turn the media system off and back on. Don't suppose anyone can recommend a decent head unit for a 2015 passat estate? :D

I'd love a Golf R32, I thought about one when lease was up last time but decent, unmolested versions are expensive. Never had a Golf only driven one once.

If it counts I have a Leon Cupra 290 on lease. It is has a lot of the same underpinnings, same gearbox (7 spd DSG) etc. 18k miles and engine just loosening up nicely.

I have a 1.6l mk4 Golf SE that’s old enough to vote. It’s still going but it’s starting to get very expensive and somewhat rattly.

It’s my third Golf and my fourth car. I like them but I don’t know if I’d get another one, I’m a bit reluctant because I expect I’ll keep its replacement for at least ten years. My kid is 4 right now and it’s ok but he’s already tall for his age and the idea of him at 14 in the back of something that size doesn’t appeal.

My ideal mid life crisis car would be a Scirocco, I like the 3rd gen one a lot. Shame they discontinued it.

I hadn’t heard of them. Sydney is thousands of KM away and takes days to get there. It’s like driving from the UK to the south coast of Spain.

I will look them up though.

I had one of those as well! Loved that car.

So I started life with Renault's and always wanted a Golf but could never afford the insurance. I went down the Seat route had 2 x Leon and 1 x Ibiza FR. I'm now onto my Octavia estate and don't think I'd ever buy a Golf. A mate of mine bought one he always had a Octavia VRS and soon returned the Golf for another VRS and I can see why.

My next car will be a decent spec Octavia weather its a VRS or something else, from the Golf's I've seen and tried not impressed with them to be honest.

I still have a mk4 1.8 gti modified to the high heavens. She is old, can rattle on occasion but she just keeps going, not often you can say that about modern cars.

I have 2008 golf...umm mark something. I love it, I put 80 ish miles a day on it (when in work) and its just a total work horse.

I'd love a new one but just cant see the value add at the moment.
