I put a Biostore Fastrak system in the Trust I worked in previously and the system works really well, install was easy and went really smooth considering the switch over was doing during term time. Also used it as an opportunity to tidy up our biostore servers and biometric registration process.

We moved from Cunninghams to Biostore/Fastrack 5-6 years back. We still get fairly regular problems (maybe once a term) with funds on syncing up or FSM/lunch duty credit not being applied correctly. And there's that one till that no-one knows the admin passwords for, because whoever set it up didn't use the right admin password and now doesn't work for Biostore anymore.

We've not been super impressed with their support responsiveness either. Business manager is seriously looking at going back to Cunninghams.

Keeping an eye, mostly as "anything but Cunninghams" is an upgrade! :)

Our most recent catering change (Summer last year) was TO Cunninghams, away from EasyTrace.

Following some back and forth with Cunninghams around upgrades prices im interested to see what else is out there?

Anyone got a system they would recommend?

Going to speak to BioStore but will need a few options :)

We have just moved from Cunninghams to Biostore, Cunninghams support was just too bad.

My old job involved supporting a NRS system with Parentpay as the payment system.

For me, if I didn’t have to go to the canteen to sort an issue or have a call from the catering manager about a till or top up issue, that was a win. I had months of wins, the system ran smoothly using the biometric system. The issue is more the end user, the students, they didn’t register their thumbs correctly or would have glue on them.

I used to stand at the till during break time occasionally and watch hundred flow through without an issue.

Support was great.

We have not had any issues like this.

We are looking at options. Has anyone used their own tills or sourced third party tills themselves for the BioStore / Fastrak software instead of purchasing within the in package?

Been trying to get a hold of Biostore but cant seem to get through on the phones and no one is replying to emails...

Spoken to Live Register. Had to go lie down after seeing the quote.

This is something I always look for.... Pre-sales support.

YMMV but IME, if they're not bothered to call or speak with me BEFORE any cash changes hands, I'm gonna have one hell of a time afterwards.

So we have had pricing back from Live Register, Sharp and BioStore. BioStore looks and is priced the best!

Anyone moved from Cunninghams to Biostore? Anything missing or issues cropped up?

Other than re-doing the fingerprints, no issues really.

Please feedback on how this goes. We are looking at options in the next few months.

We were already using Biostore for biometrics with Cunninghams so we didn't need to redo fingerprints. We are moving to RFID cards in Sept due to the covid situation so no one is touching fingerprint scanners anymore.

Does LiveRegister provide the IT equipment PC for the catering staff to use or do you provide it yourself?

E.g. Cunninghams provided and looked after the catering PC not us do LiveRegister do the same?

Sorry I don't mean the tills

e.g. with Cunninghams - they have the reval units, tills and catering PC for them to use in the office with the server all of which are supported and maintained by Cunninghams themselves.

Do LiveRegister do the same thing, with the same setup - as we've been told we have to provide our own PC for the kitchen staff to use.

We use Live Register and have done since 2013. Used it with both Tucasi and Parent Pay.

Hi, Would you mind if I asked you a few questions about this? Thanks

Ahh, with you now.

There is a dB installed on one of our SQL instances. The program can be installed on any windows computer and some parts are web based so any browser. Guess there must be some sort of webhost on a server too. Too long a ago to remember.

There may be options for liveregister providing the Cunningham's style setup but it won't be standard so was cheaper to use our own hardware.

Who is responsible for the PC hardware then? Yourselves by the sounds of it?

My concern would be the sudden shift to make IT look after any hardware issues.
