Who is responsible for the PC hardware then? Yourselves by the sounds of it?

 

My concern would be the sudden shift to make IT look after any hardware issues.

Well we're not responsible for the tills. Short of ensuring they have a network connection we would just facilitate a remote connection.

 

Our catering is an external provider so they have a company laptop with the software installed. Again we just ensure they have a connection to the school network.

 

The SQL server hosts other necessary databases - papercut, netsupport DNA - so the server has to be supported already.

 

It is a bit strange tbh. We are an IT company, catering is another company then live register and the school so it could turn in to a blame game but live register works pretty stable.

Have you looked at VeriCool? We've had it for over 10 years, and I'll be honest in the early days we had lots of issues but it got better with time. More recently we've upgrade to their latest SwiftQ platform, with new tills and cashless vending and it's been fantastic so far. Tills are super quick and has made a huge difference to our queuing times. Support has been great too and they've even made tweaks to how the vending system works based on our feedback. Worth a look, and you'll likely find it cheaper than the options mentioned here so far.

Anyone installed the Biostore till software themselves?- we may require another 'Till' (laptop or desktop) in the interim in september to get us through Year groups being confined to certain areas of the school.

Goodness just read this. Must say I am a fan of Cunninghams and they've been really good. Had my odd moments with mostly the sQuid side of things, but Cunninghams do fine. Even recommended them of late.

We went with Biostore in the end- biggest issue was parentpay not responding to any contact but other than that very happy. Have Cunninghams at another site and not impressed- server has been wiped and rebuilt twice. Equipment isnt the best either!
