dhicks Posted June 27, 2020 Posted June 27, 2020 i have had a hue hd camera given to me to test on our network but no software with it Are you sure you need any software / drivers? The Hue HD camera was recognised on all the computers I've tried it in (OS X, Windows 10 and ChromeOS) as a generic USB camera. Some of our older machines did struggle to recognise the camera the first time it was plugged in, but I think that might have been an issue with the base stand, possibly related to power draw - plugging just the camera-ona-stick bit in seemed to work okay.

Ours wont work without the software linked above.
Boredguy Posted June 27, 2020 Posted June 27, 2020 Windows should detect it automatically for normal camera functions. Even the website for the Hue HD says it's plug and play, and the software is for the animation software (certainly didn't hear any screams when a member of staff tried to use a Pro last week on a station at work to do a Team meeting with it)
old_n07 Posted June 27, 2020 Posted June 27, 2020 (edited) Our lecturers use them with VLC media player (Media --> Open Capture device), we haven't had to install any extra software for them, they also work with Teams without issue. Edited June 27, 2020 by old_n07
DrBeaker Posted June 28, 2020 Posted June 28, 2020 The one I got for a trial works with the camera app in Windows 8.1/10 and also doubles as a webcam. Which is useful!
round2it Posted June 29, 2020 Author Posted June 29, 2020 device works fine with vlc etc but wanted some software so teachers can use like a visualiser
JATSO Posted June 29, 2020 Posted June 29, 2020 device works fine with vlc etc but wanted some software so teachers can use like a visualiser We use the Win 10 Camera App or Smart Notebook if you use that.
DrBeaker Posted June 29, 2020 Posted June 29, 2020 device works fine with vlc etc but wanted some software so teachers can use like a visualiser To be honest I've only ever seen them use it as a glorified "webcam on a stick" as a previous colleague called them, in both schools I've worked in. Never seen anybody ever annotate anything etc, only to use it to show hard-copy stuff on the screen/projector/TV.
