Yes it does!*

Key points are that it will cost $30 at launch (probably £40 here), has crossplay between PC, XBox and PlayStation, and can be played entirely in VR if you want.

System reqs look reasonable and can be found here

*providing EA don't go and ruin the damned thing with microtransactions... Again.

Looks like £35 on consoles, but Smyths have pre-orders for £30.

I know you should never pre-order......

But at £30 for a full star wars X-wing /TIE-fighter game in VR I'll take a chance on it!

Does seem almost suspiciously cheap though.... Can't help but assume EA have DLC missions, content packs and numerous microtransaction paint jobs and ewok/stormtrooper cockpit bobbleheads in the pipeline!

I was always happy with microtransactions being used for cosmetic upgrades. So long as it doesn't affect gameplay, feel free to spend what you like on paint jobs and dashboard fairy lights :)

DLC had better be reasonably priced, though. Warhammer Total War 2 does this well. £7 gets you two whole campaigns with new factions and characters which amounts to hours of play.

It is cheap, relatively. But it's not a big game, really. They've put in better flight mechanics than Battlefront II had, and given us the X-Wing series management of your ship, but essentially most of the game is filled with existing assets from previous EA games, and like every other Star Wars EA game it's going to be running on Frostbite.

It's not like the maps are overly complicated either. Space is pretty empty! :D

Motive Studios are saying "You get what you pay for" and there isn't any live service or microtransaction component in the game, nor DLC plans. So I'm going to err on the side of caution and say on release - the ewok bobblehead you'll have to earn in-game, but expect the Porg bobblehead to be bolted onto as a microtransaction later on if the game is a huge success. :)

If it hasn't, you've got a tidy little £30 game. A bit like Battlefield 1943.

New footage out today. The more I see of star wars squadrons the more awesome it looks 😎

It's...it's...beautiful!

Nice to see on someones PC. I always get a bit annoyed with the publisher showing footage as I can't help but feel they are using a machine maxed out to the limits which no real average gamer could afford.

Looks gorgeous!

Now they just need to confirm HOTAS compatibility!

He did in the vid. No makes and models, but he did say it supported HOTAS.

I suspect that the sort of person who gets invites to this sort of thing to broadcast on YouTube might have a better than average set up.

Think the guy said it has.

Been playing this over the weekend on Playstation and it's really good especially in VR.

Anyone else playing it?

The above review is good but I appreciated the first minute where it cuts from clips of the 90s Lucasarts games to the current one. Shows just how far things have come in ~25 years!

I was going to ask if anyone has been playing this on PC yet. I've been hanging back due to the reported issues with HOTAS setups not being very optimal, but apparently patches are on their way to address this and once fixed I shall be indulging.

I hope they introduce a mission creator, loved X-Wing Alliance's one. I just make huge battles!
