Computer Cleaning

I'd be wanting some advise from the council e.g. health and safety. Ours said to use DC10 on a microfiber cloth

but no indication of how long to use, e.g. one cloth per day / per 10 laptops / per ...

We're waiting to see what happens but we're thinking either before/after the user is there ie the morning/afternoon/break or the user steps outside for 10 minutes,

 

If I have to go into a classroom the teacher moves the front row of children wherever they can go safely - this may be out into the corridor. I carefully point out that I am asthmatic and they are all very good

Does it kill viruses??

 

Asking because as far as I am aware a lot of the anti-bac things that people are using are actually no use against viruses - they work fine as soap but some of the gels are a waste of time

got this from wife's son who works in the local hospital - in theatres - so he should know

The gels* need to contain at least 70% alcohol to kill coronavirus - some anti-bacterial cells don't meet this requirement, but the label should tell you.

 

On using IPA (isopropyl not hops based product [emoji57]), most of the screen manufacturers advise against using it neat due to the risk of damaging the surface. Don't know if that risk is real or just manufacturers being cautious, but I've been mixing mine with de-ionised distilled water for screen cleaner and aloe Vera gel for hand sanitiser.

 

*Gels kept getting autocorrected to Greeks. This post is not about killing Greeks or only relevant to Greek people trying to clean ICT equipment!

We're thinking of putting a packet of antibac wipes at each staff computer. Then for the computer labs, I would like something I can go round at the end of the day and quickly mist spray over the keyboards + mice before leaving to dry overnight.

 

Any idea of available products for that? Would something like https://amzn.to/2YGCkpW in a spray bottle work? Would that leave a sticky residue if left to dry overnight?

remember it needs to be anti viral - not anti bac

 

there seem to be a lot of adverts around for anti-bac stuff but the details do not mention virus stuff at all - so these would not be good enough in this situation

 

Anything with >60% alcohol is OK

We've 'hidden' keyboards and mice of unused pcs for social distancing so only certain machines are used. wiped down by staff between sessions .

We did that & put down hazard tape crosses on machines that couldn't be used - Still get asked daily "Can we have the mice/keyboards back" - No! Talk to my colleague in Lecister for why!
