enjay Posted May 9, 2022 Posted May 9, 2022 Does anyone know if it's possible to unlock the Huawei 4G routers, we've got a few that were never collected and they've gone past the date the DfE said they needed to be "reset" by. Just thought I could use them as emergency routers or for staff to use if they go on trips but resetting them don't seem to fully reset them and they are locked to I think the o2 network. Shame as I've got a few that are now just paper weights and are going to be added to yet more e-waste. You'd need to get a new data contract for them, as the DfE one has expired. Speak to whoever you get your mobile phones from, at least it would save you £35 for the hotspot. We've got a few hotspots we keep as stop-gap loans for staff or students who need them, e.g. broadband problems or moving house.

newpersn Posted June 15, 2022 Posted June 15, 2022 Bit of a long shot - Has anyone managed to update a Huawei E5576 after the cut off. Just found one that hasn't been updated. Thanks

Thanks We've got a few that were not updated so they are just now paper weights. If you reset them they still retain some settings e.g. APN.

DrBeaker Posted June 18, 2022 Posted June 18, 2022 I know it’s really annoying and such a waste. Meanwhile .... https://schoolsweek.co.uk/dfe-laptop-firm-profits-soar-by-nearly-50-to-207m/ Kinda unethical for ANY service company for the public sector to have made profit at the expense of kids education 2
mikeprice Posted June 19, 2022 Posted June 19, 2022 Meanwhile .... https://schoolsweek.co.uk/dfe-laptop-firm-profits-soar-by-nearly-50-to-207m/ Kinda unethical for ANY service company for the public sector to have made profit at the expense of kids education I agree - but before we get into frog worthy territory It is also rather dodgy that devices are sold to school - or anyone for that matter - that are so locked down that they can't be used if you go outside the support contract IMO a computery type device should be able to be reformatted by the owner (or something similar) and go back to a generic useable state with no enforced settings like unlocking a phone from the network
LeMarchand Posted June 23, 2022 Posted June 23, 2022 Have you received devices during the COVID-19 pandemic? Whilst many great devices were issued, some may not be delivering maximum benefit because they don’t currently fit into your educational environment or align with your digital strategy. Contact us to trade-in your current device for credit towards an iPad, keyboard and stylus. Trade-in your Surface Pro 7+ and receive up to £300 credit. The credit you receive from your Surface Pro 7+ can be put towards a new iPad. So who got Surface Pros, then? (Also the last lot of iPads we got were well <£300.)
DrCheese Posted June 23, 2022 Posted June 23, 2022 So who got Surface Pros, then? (Also the last lot of iPads we got were well <£300.) lol @ this. Wonder how much they'd give us for a Geobook 1
southhamster Posted June 23, 2022 Posted June 23, 2022 lol @ this. Wonder how much they'd give us for a Geobook You'd be paying them to get rid of them!
LeMarchand Posted September 21, 2022 Posted September 21, 2022 Just put W11 EDU on one of the Dynabooks, added nothing but Chrome and Windows updates. After MS and Wise disk cleanups a whole 4.40 GB of disk space to play with. Might have to be W10 x32, which "wastes" a bit of the RAM.
Brax Posted October 5, 2022 Posted October 5, 2022 Hi all, We have some Lenovo 100e 2nd Gen devices and for some reason the clock just refuses to sync and the last sync was apparently in 2015! It's not a major issue but its bugging a few of our students and I can't figure out a fix. Any ideas?

Brax Posted October 6, 2022 Posted October 6, 2022 Is the time correct in the BIOS? Ah didn't check that, I'll have a look at that today, thank you!
