Door entry that incorporates clocking in

I don't get the twin reader business. When you swipe in, a log entry is generated. Why the second reader?

Paxton have a second piece of software dedicated to clocking in and out. To use it, you need dedicated readers. The issue with using the main program, is potentially giving info that people who shouldn't have it etc...

So they can use the time sheet app.

Happy to be educated about reports, could they be generated for departments and used to show time in and out?

I see the main reason you have separate readers is you might leave the building but still be 'on site' working. Otherwise your PE staff or site manager won't be paid when outside.

 

So then you have to ask, do management want an idea of when staff are onsite (door exits and entry) or do they need to know exactly each day.

We have Paxton for door entry, one site has push to exit, other has swipe to exit with break glass override for emergencies.

We have Inventry for signing in with one reader in the entrance area.

 

When we had the systems installed I asked the same question but was told it it better to have 2 systems for a few reasons:

Staff will hold the door for each other, especially at busy times leading to them not clocking in or out being the main reason.

There is also an area for parents in reception, any staff want to speak to them would be clocked out.

Surely it's just to know who's on site, and maybe who's in that day, if you start counting the seconds someone's at work you're doing being an employer wrong.

 

You counter the problem of people holding the door by telling people to sign in/out, just like they used to in a book anyway. Or if you're mean, by locking their account automatically until they sign in

So we have each door set up with two readers on the inside of the door we have the push to break glass to automatically release the door, we run a report twice a day one at 9AM and 9PM we also reset all the cards to auto clock out after midnight (Just to make sure we can get back in if they forget to swipe) we rarely get an issues with it, we also have it set up to do the Roll Call in case of a fire! we have anti-passback also set up so they cant scan in twice.

 

You can set a few different reports up and have them emailed out.

we use net 2 and have 2 readers on all doors. It works really well.

We have net2 on all our gates and doors too, we don't use it for clocking in/out purposes but you can pull off reports for 'who's been in today' and logs per user and a roll call list for fire alarm activations.

Reading and re reading replies. It seems the best solution here is to stick with net 2 and get the 3 extra readers installed.

Do any of you use the "Sign in app" for visitor management? Reviews?

This can also be used with our current mifare cards for staff to clock in and out with (Via an extra reader tagged onto it). So it is another option, but I didn't like the idea of congestion at the terminal when visitors are signing in and staff are waiting to sign in...

Inventry have an addon to Paxton that does sign in and out and open doors but does need an in and out reader - we use it to auto sign ataff in but we are about to add exit readers now too.

It does involve extra costs though

What features does a clocking in/out system need? Can't be that hard to write a few sql queries against the net2 database
