[sims] Do you put temp staff and Student Teachers in SIMS?

Does your school add temps, Exam Invigilators and student teachers into SIMS? We have been told that this is so that emergency contact details are available.

Is there anything wrong with adding them in?

We add them all in.

We add them all in - works well for school closures due to snow etc too where we can text them not to bother coming in - we weren't that lucky today though !

If your Single Central Record is in SIMS then all staff, temp staff and volunteers must be on it! No exceptions. This is Safeguarding rule 1. Your Designated Safeguarding Lead needs retraining if they don’t know this.

 

And Safeguarding applies to students too. You record their presence in one place.

Everyone on SIMS apart from daily supply. if they're here long term supply they go on sims so they can use 3rd party apps. they can be in SIMS as current staff but not affect the census

Yup - all student teachers and temp teachers go in SIMS. That way we have a photo, details, etc and then this follows through to create network accounts, etc.
