paolone Posted February 12, 2020 Posted February 12, 2020 Hello I want to lockdown Windows client for school or library standalone PC no Domain. From Windows XP to Windows 8.1 mandatory profile are perfect for my request. Every reboot the profile is new. From windows 10 this is not possible. If you setup a mandatory profile, they will broke immediately for windows update (features update) or for modern app and cortana. I've seen 3rd party software but the will doesn't support the windows update. If the update start after reboot they re deploy original image. Do you have a suggestion to make kiosk or lockdown computer with windows 10? My best regards PAolo
Rob_D Posted February 13, 2020 Posted February 13, 2020 What is it going to be used for? If you just a single app kiosk then try this: https://www.windowscentral.com/how-set-kiosk-mode-windows-10-october-2018-update If you want a more "full user experience", then you could load the settings you want into the default profile and the session user has a local profile which delprof/powershell deletes at restart for a fresh profile each time.
Duke5A Posted February 18, 2020 Posted February 18, 2020 A product called Deep Freeze from Faronics might be what you're looking for. Every time the computer is restarted it'll go back to a blank slate and the Deep Freeze client can handle Windows Updates on a set schedule.
3s-gtech Posted February 18, 2020 Posted February 18, 2020 Mandatory profiles work on Windows 10, as do Super Mandatory Profiles. I know, because I spent enough time getting them to work and still use them.

I know, because I spent enough time getting them to work and still use them. We are still using them too.... the only thing we had to really do was a few GPO changes and replace the StartMenu with OpenShell...
