I have a computer on 7 that I am going to upgrade to 10, no issues, will clone before I do it just incase but my question is will Windows Live Mail work ok on 10 as part of the upgrade or not?

I think moving forward Thunerbird is my answer but there is no easy way to migrate data into there from Live Mail, the only easy option I can see is to temporarily install Outlook migrate to a PST then import into Thunderbird.

Thoughts please, thanks.

Live Mail was part of Windows Essentials. I'm sure that's been discontinued. It was on Windows 7 I had it setup for people, but moved them over a web-email system (Gmail) to be honest. Is that an option?

Not licensed, it's a home user, uses open office for word/excel, used to be Outlook Express prior to migrating to Win7. Outlook is my preferred choice but need free in this instance.

They use VirginMedia ISP mail, got a pile of data local, would prefer to move it to Thunderbird and IMAP if I can, just need to know if anyone knows if Mail will work to save me hassle if not.

I’ve used WLM 2012 on Windows 10 without problems before, although years ago- should be okay as a stopgap measure, definitely a good idea to see if you can export the data though and absolutely make backups of the mailbox files before you do the upgrade
